How to contain and remove lead paint

After any renovation involving lead paint, you should clean, clean, and clean some more. This includes washing and/or vacuum ceilings, ceiling fans, walls, floors, any furniture in the area, curtains and... clean everything including the tools used during the renovation. Clean, clean, clean! A child 6 and under retains 50% of the lead dust they ingest. Lead dust is invisible and your children could suffer permanent brain damage. Get your child tested for their Blood Lead Level (BLL). Call 1-800-424-LEAD (5323) to find a testing facility near you.

Preparation is everything. Find lots more information from the EPA about Renovation, Repair, and Painting Program for Do It Yourselfers.
