Pre-Inspection

The best way to pass a Lead-Safe Inspection is to schedule a Visual Pre-Inspection with the Lead Paint Detectives. A Visual Pre-Inspection consists of a visual examination on the outside and inside of the unit. Our preliminary written maintenance report helps the landlord as to what needs to be addressed. Our goal is to help Landlords understand the process and take the next steps to pass the clearance examination and get certified.

A Visual Pre-Inspection is of real value to the property owner in understanding the general ordinance requirements and the inspection format/criteria. This preliminary evaluation of the property, both exterior and interior, as it relates to the actual inspection criteria, will provide the owner with a checklist of items requiring specific attention/correction prior to the actual Lead Safe Inspection. All discrepancies will be identified by the Lead Risk Assessor (Inspector) and possible remedial action on the part of the owner will be discussed.

The Inspector will also review in detail a preparation checklist for the dust wipe part of the Lead-Safe Inspection. This checklist will concentrate on the cleaning required for specific sampling areas including the floor (bare or carpet), the window sills, and the window troughs.
