Messing with Lead, Lead Paint, or Invisible Lead Dust?

Wear Disposable Gloves

Lead poisoning is serious and preventable. Invisible lead dust is something you just don’t want to mess around with and find out what happens after exposure… like permanent brain damage! I’m Anthony Weaver, a Lead Risk Assessor, based in Toledo, Ohio, and I inspect for lead paint and invisible lead dust.

One of the most important things we can do to protect ourselves from lead poisoning is to wear disposable gloves. Whether you’re Lead-Safe Cleaning, using Lumetallix Instant Lead Detection test to find the invisible lead dust, or you're in a lab using sterile techniques. Lead dust is invisible; it’s a neurotoxin and will do permanent damage.

That’s right. Permanent, irreversible, long-lasting lifetime damage.

When you can protect yourself from exposure to lead? Why Not?

Even when you’re wearing gloves, it’s important to be careful. Transferring lead dust from your hands to your clothes and then your children… especially after dealing with invisible lead dust… It’s a real thing. It’s called transference… transferring lead dust from one source to another.

There’s even a way to take your gloves off, so you don’t contaminate yourself.

To take your gloves off… pull the middle palm of your hand, and pull the glove inside out into the palm of your other hand. Then, underneath your glove, pull the other glove over the top of the other one. This will help keep the invisible lead dust inside the glove.

Why go the extra mile and wear disposable gloves when dealing with invisible lead dust?

Why risk it? Lead poisoning is preventable. Why mess around with invisible lead dust and get lead poisoning, a lifelong issue, for absolutely no reason?

No matter what, after you're done dealing with invisible lead dust… and… Just in case you got lead dust inside your gloves, and got invisible lead dust on your hands… Finish off by washing your hands with Dawn and water.

Be safe, don’t get lead poisoning, and wear disposable gloves. You're dealing with invisible lead dust.
